YES, YOU NEED AN IMPRESSIVE WEBSITE NOW | HERE ARE 7 MAJOR REASONS WHY

Let me ask you a question. When someone asks you, “let me see your work”, what do you send them? Do you send them your LinkedIn page? Do you send them a bunch of loose links? Your Instagram page? Did you send them a website?

Technically, there is no right answer. Realistically, you need a website! I can almost assure you that you are missing out on many new supporters, opportunities, and revenue.

Over the past 10 years, I’ve spent time creating websites for people and myself, producing marketing campaigns, and going through the trial and error of trying to close clients. Through this, I have found that the most efficient way to run a business is to have a website.

There is a long list of reasons why, but I consolidated them so we can all go back to achieving our dreams.

Here are 7 MAJOR reasons why an impressive website will help change your life:

1. Link To A Website Portfolio

We all have been working hard for years perfecting our craft and defining our passion. Now, we are ready for the world to see our best. Were you one of the people that answered with your Instagram page? I’m sure you have great work there but it’s a lot to sift through and they may scroll down to 2015. We all may want to delete some of 2014 from public records. Ha

Seriously, let’s compile your best work and have it for display on your website. Here you can let your skills speak for itself. I used to send a bunch of links, plus my Instagram, and a Linkedin page. Controlling the narrative is important. Who knows where they checked or never got to see at all.

2. A Destination For Marketing Efforts

Now that we have your best work in one place now it is time to get the world to see it. If you get a chance to read marketing articles or watch marketing videos on YouTube you will find that there are so many ways to drive traffic to a website. We work really hard to build our Instagram or Twitter but then what? They say to send them to a “link in bio”. What link are they clicking or are you sending them to a link at all?

We may receive a DM but how do you track this? How do we show a brand or customer that we are professional?

Building an email list is one of those marketing tactics that have not faded. It is still very effective. Sending them to your website is the next step in the process and most importantly, it completes the sale.

Another tactic that is often spoken about is Search Engine Optimization (SEO). SEO is the marketing practice that organically sends free traffic to your website. The better your SEO is the more often you come up in search engine results. This translates to more chances to have random people in your niche click your website link and become a new lead.

All of your marketing efforts are combined to help you make those opportunities come more often. Without a website, you are not even in the game.

3. Conversions and Sales

Now that we’ve established that you are doing a great job marketing your service, freelance content, or physical product, it’s time to efficiently sell it.

You may have enough capital for a sales team, but isn’t it great to also have a free sales representative that has only the perfect information, showcases your best offers, and converts the sale?

According to 99fims.com, the total value of global retail e-commerce sales will reach $3.45T in 2019. You may not be involved in retail but you can imagine the overall impact of having a website is to sell.

The next time you spend days creating some content to produce on your Instagram you will now have that link in your bio to send that silent impression to purchase at that moment. I say “silent” impression because we all know about those

4. 24/7 Access

Remember that free sales rep I spoke about previously? Now think of having that representative on the clock at all times. Your website now will be your access to those sales at any hour. That phrase “making money while you sleep” is only a complicated concept to people that do not have a website.

The internet has made so many things more possible. The final destination for most transactions on the internet is on a website whether you are available or not.

5. Business Card On Steroids

Your brand is important to you. Along with perfecting your craft, you work extremely hard to design your logo and business card, choose your colors and aesthetic, control your marketing message, make content, etc. Your website is equally as important to your brand.

A great business tip is to attend networking events and conferences where there are hundreds maybe even thousands of people to meet and pass out business cards. Patrick Bateman in American Psycho resembled how awkward that interaction can be.

Don’t let subtle offwhite coloring, tasteful thickness, and a watermark be the deciding factor in losing to your competition. In defense, there are millions of leads on the internet to thousands at that conference or meeting. If your marketing is done well they can end up on your website where all of your best work, impressive background and supporting information are available 24/7 to do all of the talking and presenting for you.

6. Your Blog Can Change Your Life

A blog is a place where you can garner free traffic and sales leads. I can’t even keep track of the moments I realize that I have been sold after just researching a basic topic. A blog may seem difficult to keep up with or you may not have time. Luckily, today’s search engines reward quality over quantity. Taking weeks to create a detailed and informative long-form blog post can set you up for free leads and conversions for the rest of the time your site is up. Post it once and receive traffic from it forever. You can also use it as a piece of sales material.

Example: Here is a quick test. Type the phrase “Best social media strategies” into Google. Check the first options or even go through a few pages. I just tried it myself. Pretty much all of the search results ended up being marketing agencies.

I will elaborate further in another post, but giving away value first is by far the best marketing tactic out. Word of mouth is cool but millions of people will be searching for what you offer every few minutes.

7. Confidence Conquers All

One of the primary business tips revolves around persistence. A microcosm of persistence is confidence. What may help you with confidence? Belief in your product and your presentation can increase your confidence immensely. Your product is already steller, check. How do you feel about your presentation or digital presence? Would an impressive website make you feel more confident? It certainly helps with mine.
